Materials Needed
- Vinyl repair patch (matching material if possible)
- Vinyl adhesive or PVC glue (made for inflatables)
- Rubbing alcohol or mild soap and water
- Clean cloth or paper towels
- Marker, pencil or chalk
- Scissors
Step 1: Deflate the Inflatable Completely
Turn off the blower and fully deflate the bounce house. Lay it flat on a clean, dry surface so the damaged area is easy to access.
Step 2: Locate and Mark the Damage
- Inspect the inflatable for holes, punctures, or tears.
- If the leak is hard to find, lightly inflate the unit and listen for escaping air or spray soapy water to spot bubbles.
- Outline the damaged area with a marker, pencil or chalk.
Step 3: Clean the Repair Area
- Clean around the hole or tear using rubbing alcohol or mild soap and water.
- Remove dirt, moisture, and oils so the patch will bond properly.
- Allow the area to dry completely.
Step 4: Prepare the Patch
- Cut a patch that is at least 1–2 inches larger than the hole on all sides.
- Round the edges of the patch to prevent peeling.
Step 5: Apply Adhesive
- Apply an even layer of vinyl adhesive to both the patch and the damaged area
- Let the glue sit for the recommended tack time (usually 30 seconds to 2 minutes).
Step 6: Attach the Patch
- Carefully place the patch over the hole.
- Press firmly from the center outward to remove air bubbles.
- Apply steady pressure for several minutes.
- Use heat from a hair dryer to bind the patch even more
Step 7: Allow Proper Cure Time
- Let the adhesive cure for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour (or per glue instructions).
- For best results, wait 12–24 hours before reinflating.
Step 8: Test the Repair
- Reinflate the bounce house.
- Check the patch for air leaks or lifting edges.
- If needed, apply additional adhesive around the edges and allow to cure again.
Step 9: Resume Normal Use
Once the patch holds air securely and the surface feels firm, the inflatable is ready for use.
Tips & Best Practices
- Always use vinyl/PVC-specific repair kits—household glue will fail.
- Do not repair inflatables while wet
- For large tears (over 4–6 inches) or seam damage, professional repair is recommended.
- Keep a repair kit on hand for quick fixes during events.
